Introduction
Fishermen, and women, come in as many different species as the do the fish they seek to catch. There are "fine weather" anglers who only fish occasionally in the summer months. More hardy or more enthusiastic types, who fish all year round. There are specimen hunters, match anglers, pleasure anglers and combinations of any of the forgoing. Add to this the species specific angler, who may be interested in only carp, catfish or roach. In contrast there are those, who probably form the majority of anglers, who simply want to catch any species of fish, whatever comes along, be it a snotty, a pasty or a moggy.
Some of our ranks are rod and reel aficionados, while others are specialists in pole fishing. There are as many opinions on technique as there are anglers, baits range from the simple to the exotic and the amount of tackle an angler needs, according to the catalogues, would fill a warehouse.
But no matter what category we fall into we all share the same belief:
"
Fishing is not a matter of life and death - its more important than that".
(Can anyone put a name to that quote?)

These pages exists because there is more to fishing than sitting on the bankside waiting for a bite. More than the thrill of the bent rod and the screaming reel. We need to plan our days on the bank, prepare rigs and baits, and we need to keep in touch with new developments. It is early days for this huge task I have set myself, but, hopefully, in the fullness of time these pages will provide a place where essential information is shared, the imagination is stimulated, and a day on the bankside made more fruitful.
This site was launched in August, 2007, and in the early days of development will, of course, have blank pages. I hope you will keep returning to these pages so that you can witness its development. Or better still, why not become a contributor!
